Ear, nose or throat tumor
Tumors in otorhinolaryngology are found in the nose, ear, neck and throat and can be of a benign or malignant lineage (cancer). The symptoms will depend on the area where the tumor is located.
Nose and paranasal sinuses:
Tumors in this area tend to mainly generate nasal congestion, nasal and facial pain, sometimes epistaxis (nose bleed), facial edema, tearing, decreased smell, etc.
The treatment of nose tumors will depend on their location and size; when they are confined to the paranasal sinuses or nasal fossa, the approach can often be endoscopic; when they are large tumors that go beyond these areas, then an open approach is chosen.
The need for chemotherapy and radiation therapy will depend on the type of tumor.
Hearing:
Ear tumors are rare. They can be found to be of malignant (cancer) or benign origin. Among the main symptoms that the patient may present are: decreased hearing, dizziness or vertigo, sensation of blocked ear, tinnitus (ringing in the ear), ear bleeding, etc.
The treatment is surgical and the use of chemotherapy or radiotherapy will depend on the type of tumor.
Neck:
Neck tumors can be classified into malignant and benign and can originate in muscles, bones, salivary glands, thyroid, etc.
