Lingual frenectomy

Lingual frenectomy is a minor surgical procedure by which the frenulum that joins the tongue is removed.

The main reason for performing this intervention is to prevent speech and eating problems.

At an early age, the parents of the should verify that the tip of the tongue reaches the back of the hard palate comfortably.

If this does not happen and the child´s speech is nor normal, it is necessary to resort to a surgical medical assessment by a certified ENT, depending on the age of the patient, it can be done in the surgery room or office.
